Oregon Falls to Arizona State 18-10 in Pac-12 Home Opener

The Arizona State Sun Devils scored the first six goals of the match and spoiled the University of Oregon Ducks’ conference home opener 18-10 Friday afternoon at Pape` Field.

Despite a hat trick each from Shannon Williams and Carlie Leach, Oregon never threatened the visitors, with ASU jumping to a 14-4 lead at the half then holding off the Ducks in second half to improve their season record to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in Pac-12 play.

Thanks to a 19-8 advantage in shots taken in the second half, Oregon bested the Sun Devils in total shots 34-33 but the Sun Devils had the decided advantage in accuracy with a 28-22 margin in shots on goal.

Oregon slipped to 2-6 on the year and remains without a win in conference action at 0-3.

The Ducks will look to turn that tide on Sunday at 1:00 pm against the #22-ranked USC Lady Trojans.
