USC 20 - Arizona 13 (Pick: USC 28-17)
With starting quarterback John David Booty on the sidelines with a broken finger, Mark Sanchez took the helm for the Trojans and managed just enough offense to beat the toothless Wildcats. Fans in Tucson have been waiting for Mike Stoops' program to make a statement and once again there was little substance behind the bluster. a perfect opportunity to take a step forward for the program was wasted. Given the events in Lincoln this week (the athletic director who hired an ineffective coach was fired), it has to be awfully hot in Tucson for the man who hired not one, but two ineffective coaches.
Oregon 53 - Washington State 7 (Pick:Oregon 42-23)
Arguably Oregon's best performance on both sides of the ball since last year's Arizona State game. Total domination offensively for the Ducks and complete ruination of the Cougar offense by Oregon's green shirts. Coming off the heartbreaking loss to California and their bye week, it was a forceful statement. Sadly, injuries to Cameron Colvin and Jeremiah Johnson ended their season - a loss of significance for the Ducks.
TCU 38 - Stanford 36 (Pick: Stanford 28-13)
One would think after upsetting the #1 team in the country on the road the week before the Trees would have carried a bit more momentum into this match-up. But then they wouldn't be the Trees if they did would they?
Oregon State 31 - California 28 (Pick: California 38-17)
Like USC, the Bears were playing with their starting quarterback on the sidelines. Unlike Arizona, the Beavers showed some heart and took advantage of the situation and threw a monkey wrench into the conference standings.
Arizona State 44 - Washington 20 (Pick: Washington 34-28)
The Sun Devils blew the game open in the second half once their defense determined that Husky quarterback Jake Locker wasn't able to pass the ball effectively and by doing so probably laid out the blueprint for all of UW's future opponents to employ when facing the Huskies. What appeared to be a season of improvement after wins over Syracuse and Boise State has the Huskies looking at a repeat of the near cellar finishes of the past few years.
Week 8
California @ UCLA
It boggles the mind to realize that despite the Bruins el-stinko performances at Utah and against Notre Dame, they are undefeated in the Pac-10. On the heels of their loss to the Beavers, the Ted-heads should put an end to that with a vengeance this week in the Rose Bowl, California 37 - UCLA 13
Stanford @ Arizona
A pick ?em game if ever there was one. but given the "fools rush in" motto here at OoPac and our ongoing distaste with the level the Wildcats have Stooped to since the Dick Tommey regime, well it's just too much fun to pick against them to stop now. Stanford 27-23
USC @ Notre Dame
Whoever the Trojans start at quarterback should be able to fashion 35 points against one of the worst teams in the history of collegiate football. Just give the ball to Joe McKnight - again, and again, and again.. USC 35 - St. Mary's of the Poor Irish 3
Oregon @ Washington
The Duck defense has shown speed and an ability to swarm to the ball that will be the decisive factor in this cross-river rivalry. With Husky quarterback Jake Locker mostly ineffectual as a passer, Oregon should be able to contain the outside and pin their ears back when Locker is forced inside. He's going to get a beating on Saturday - and so are the Huskies. 43-14
