It was the Ducks’ fourth consecutive win.
A scoreless first half belied a 10-1 Oregon advantage in shots and a 3-1 margin in corner kicks taken.
But until Everett found Chardonnay Curran’s cross at the post, Oregon had nothing to show for their efforts.
Abby Morrow and Curran teamed up to beat the defense on the left flank with Curran’s cross perfectly placed for Everret to tap inside the right post for her second game winning goal of the year and her third of the season.
“I’m proud of the effort, especially in the second half,” said Oregon head coach Kat Mertz. “Idaho came out guns blazing and we must give them credit because they put us under a lot of pressure. I thought our players responded well and they got a goal in the second half. The gritty performance in that second half is what I’m really proud of …it feels good to get the win.”
“I’m ecstatic to score another goal and put my team ahead. I want to get more to help my team,” Everett said of her game-winner. “As soon as I saw (Curran) on the other side, I knew she was going to get the cross in so I had to make my run. It was a great play by her.”
With the win, Oregon improved its season record to 4-1, Idaho fell to 2-4-1. Up next, the Ducks travel to UC Irvine for a Sunday match before returning to Pape` Field to host Montana on Friday, September 15. First touch is set for 7:00 pm.
