The Oregon Ducks (3-1-3) extended their unbeaten streak to five games in a 2-2 draw with the University of Portland Pilots (2-1-2).
Sakura Yoshida’s tenacity in the Portland end paid off in the 17th minute when her cross found Ally Cook a half step ahead of the Pilot defense to give the Ducks the early lead.
Nine minutes later Portland’s Kimberly Hazett leveled the match, beating Oregon keeper Katelyn Carter after the Pilots used an extended period of possession in front of the Oregon net to create the scoring opportunity.
Just before the half Eden Hardy converted Alyssa Hinojosa’s free kick to give Oregon a 2-1 advantage but the Ducks weren’t able to prevent the equalizer in the 71st minute by Portland’s Emily Collier.
An overtime period couldn’t break the deadlock.
The Ducks were awarded seven corner kicks to the Pilots three and outshot Portland 14-8 but had to settle for the draw.
Oregon returns to action on Sunday, September 22 at 5:00 pm to host Buffalo to close out the non-conference schedule. The match will be available on Oregon LiveStream.
