The Oregon women’s lacrosse team opened the 2016 home season with a 16-6 win over the Long Island University Blackbird Saturday afternoon at Pape` Field.
Oregon’s Rachel Steinberg led the way with a career high five goals with Bella Pyne adding three to pace the Duck offense.
Leading 7-4 at the half, Oregon opened the second stanza scoring seven straight goals to put the game out of reach.
The Ducks peppered the LIU keeper with 25 shots in the second half on their way to a 40-17 advantage overall.
Keeper Jenna Morris was credited with the win, her third of the season.
Oregon’s record is now 3-1 while LIU fell to 1-3 on the year. Oregon will next host High Point on Monday, March 7th beginning at 5:00 pm.
