Club Sports Report
Michael Perl

The weekend before Thanksgiving was full of hard competition and fierce rivalries.  On Friday the 16th and Saturday the 17th the men's Ice Hockey team faced off against their toughest competition in the PAC-8, the Arizona State Sun Devils.  It was "Skate with the Ducks" Youth Night for Friday's match and the Ducks flew past the Sun Devils 4-3.  , On Saturday the Ducks looked to impress the sponsors that came on Sponsor Appreciation Night with a second win on Saturday but the Ducks fell 3-2 in a tough battle. The weekend split gives the Ducks an excellent 10-1-3 record.

The ice hockey team is not the only team that is making big strides toward conference dominance.  On November 17th the women's rugby team faced off against Oregon State University, in a Civil War battle.  The women's team had set a goal to dominate this game, and that is exactly what they did.  The final score was an impressive 33-0 win for the Ducks.

On Thursday and Friday, the men's soccer team competed in the NIRSA National Soccer Championship.  The men's team played a total of four games over the two day period.  Defeating Towson in their first game, the Duck played to nil-nil ties with Wichita State and Virginia Tech before dropping their final match to Missouri 1-2.

Last but not least, the swimming club had their first swim meet against Western Washington University and Central Washington University on Saturday November 17th.  The director of the swim club, Liz Dow, is optimistic about the club's fourth season, the size of the UO swim club has doubled since last year and this growth in numbers gave the Ducks an advantage in their meet against Western Washington and Central Washington. Oregon's 20-member squad overpowered Western Washington's 13 entries and Central Washington's four.  The final team scores were as follows: UO?166, WW?78, CW?23.
