But despite the final score of 100-67, which was Oregon’s 44th straight home win, this was a game for the first 25 minutes leaving Duck coach Dana Altman frustrated at what was happening on the floor. The Ducks had just a 13-point lead at 51-38 with 14:48 remaining. Altman called timeout more than once because of a lack of hustle, something he never had worry about last season.
It will definitely be a learning curve for this new group of Ducks. If they put it all together, the other Pac-12 teams will have to watch out.
Troy Brown led the way with 17 points and nine rebounds with Georgetown transfer Paul White scoring 16 points in his Oregon debut. The former Hoya nailed 4-of-7 from downtown.
Victor Bailey Jr. added 15 points and Elijah Brown poured in 12. Abu Kijab also reached double figures with 10 points.
Oregon shot 35-of-63 from the field (55.6 percent) and 11-of-27 (40.7 percent) from long range.
Zachary Hamilton led the Panthers with 21 points.
The Ducks will now face Alabama State on Friday for an 8 pm tip on the Pac-12 Network.
